Beginning the Journey

Even though I was born in a Christian family, my new life in Jesus only began after I received Him into my heart when I was fourteen. Ever since then, He has given me many opportunities to serve Him through my local church, Shalom Baptist Chapel.

When I entered university (NTU), I continued seeking to know and serve Him. So, in my first year, I got involved with Campus Crusade for Christ. In this ministry, I had opportunities to learn many important lessons from the Bible.

One of the lessons I learned concerns the stewardship of everything that God has granted to us. We ought to invest the best of our time, talents and treasures in the worthiest of causes. There is no worthier task God has given to man than that of helping to introduce another person to Jesus Christ.

Dying to Self

My initial dream was to become an accomplished computer engineer. Yet in His way, God was also increasing the burden for men's eternal, priceless souls upon my heart.

I began to meet more and more people who were really hurting. I felt their needs but also grew frustrated with my inability to meet those needs. Jesus' words in John 12:24 impressed me,

“Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds” (NIV).

By then it was clear to me that only Jesus could truly touch people and help them. My part was to die to myself if I ever wanted to multiply and bless others. Still, it took many struggles to be willing to 'die'.

Living to Christ

Eventually, in September 1997, I was led by the Lord to give my life, my time, talents and treasures, as a living sacrifice, according to Romans 12: 1, 2

“I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship… that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” (NASV)

I knew that if I wanted to discern His will concerning my future, whether it was to serve Him as a computer engineer or otherwise, I would have to act on this command.

At a student camp in November 1997, I finally surrendered the last of the reasons preventing my obedience to His plan. I spent much time in prayer on the final day.

Then, in the evening message, God's conviction came in such a way that I knew He was calling me to respond to full-time ministry. Well, I did! God continued to speak and affirm His calling. By September 1998, the confirmation was clear that I should go immediately.

Seeing the Vision

I have since joined Campus Crusade for Christ as a full-time staff worker. This is a ministry that is single-minded in purpose: to win people to Christ, build them up to be His disciples, and send them out to win their world for Christ. To accomplish the work God's way, they emphasise the need to be Holy Spirit-controlled every moment.

In my final year in NTU, I had been privileged to know and disciple seven freshmen from Indonesia. As God allows, I hope to continue my work in teaching them what He has taught me, to give them a vision for bringing Christ's message and new life back to their country.

Indeed, we praise God for working through us to raise up for Himself believers and labourers from the students of many nationalities coming to study in Singapore.

Our vision is to see NTU and Singapore become a missionary sending-base for His own use and glory, and I'll be working hand-in-hand with other dedicated staff members of this ministry to help this vision become reality.

Thank you for being interested in how God has been working in my life. I hope that what you've read has encouraged your faith even as you discovered more about my ministry and myself.

Fulfilling the Vision

My vision for God's ministry can only be fulfilled as friends step forward. I need them to join my personal team of prayer and financial supporters to help meet my needs.

Would you help fulfill this vision?
